VoIP Network Engineer

About the Job

Design, installation, management, and support of our clients’ VoIP network solutions. In this role, you will assist in the design, analysis, programming, and resolution of all voice/data and circuit issues in a timely manner and assist with all end-user needs. You will also assist with the coordination of installations, changes, upgrades, and migrations, and managing SLAs for IP telephony applications. You will be required to troubleshoot reported VoIP Systems issues reported by customers, as well as troubleshoot LAN and WAN hardware systems and respond to customer inquiries.

To ensure success as a VoIP network engineer, you should have advanced knowledge of VoIP networking systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and knowledge of internet security. A top-class VoIP network engineer will be able to design and deploy networking system to meet the current and future networking needs of our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation, and support (remote and on-site) of Mitel Unified Communications Systems & Windows Server products to support telephone system deployments (DHCP, DNS, etc).

  • Collaboration with sales team during the design of systems.

  • Perform maintenance tasks for customers UC Solutions including moves, adds, or changes in their systems.

  • Troubleshooting VoIP network issues.

  • Working with clients and IT Personnel to ensure a quality installation.

  • Coordinate or perform software patches and upgrades.

  • Work with ISPs for T1/PRI and/or SIP Trunks cut-over.

Understanding of:

  • VoIP systems and IP Protocols.

  • Familiarity with WAN and LAN systems.

  • Multi-site deployments and routers for WAN configurations.

  • Ethernet equipment support for voice deployments, Firewalls, and VPN deployments.

  • Microsoft Windows Servers operating system, support, and configuration.

  • Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems.

  • Managed Ethernet switches including VLAN configuration and Layer 3 routing.

  • Wide Area Networking T1, MPLS, SD-WAN, and internet connectivity & internet firewalls.

  • Virtualization including VMWare and Hyper-V

Qualities Needed:

  • Previous experience working as a VoIP network engineer.

  • Good project management skills.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-teaching and learning.

  • Certification in specific products will be required.

  • Limited travel required for classes and installation of projects.

  • Ability to Work Overtime and On-call (after-hours upgrades/installs & part of on-call rotation).

  • Training administrator on system protocols.
